Christmas Wishes Appeal – help us create a brighter future for survivors

As many people enjoy celebrating the festive period, the abuse experienced by some families in Kent and Medway will increase.

The added pressure of more time together, family demands and financial worries – especially with the cost-of-living crisis – can all make abusive behaviours worse.

Gripped by fear, isolation, and uncertainty at a time when ‘safe’ places close – such as schools, toddler groups and nurseries – each day becomes even more difficult and frightening.

We are here to help these families. But we need your support.

Every year the demands on our services increase – especially for children and young people.

70% of the people in our refuges are children. We know how life-changing the right support can be for young people who have been affected by domestic abuse. They need people they can trust and a safe place to stay.

Daniel* was 10 years old when he arrived at an Oasis refuge with his mother and siblings, having left an abusive stepfather. The refuge not only offered safety but also support that changed the course of Daniel’s life, steering him toward academic success and personal growth.

“My 10 months in the refuge were unforgettable. I owe all of the people I came across during my time there for the person I am today. Jenny spent countless nights helping me prepare for the Kent Test and, once I got into grammar school, my homework. I am eternally grateful.”

Donate to our Christmas Wishes for a Brighter Future Appeal

Every contribution, no matter the size, creates ripples of positive change.

Not only will you be providing essential resources for children like Daniel, but you can also send people in our refuges a personal message of hope.

By raising our target of £5,000, we can pay for 100 children and young people to receive specialist counselling.

  • £10 can give a child a set of pyjamas as they arrive in refuge.
  • £25 can provide essential personal products for a parent in refuge.
  • £50 can pay for a counselling session for a child traumatised by abuse.
  • £100 can give sessions of support to an adult building their life after refuge.
  • £200 can pay for children in refuge to enjoy fun days out.
Thank you as ever for your ongoing support. We couldn’t do what we do without you.
