We are excited to announce a free, one-hour webinar taking place on 12th February 2025, designed to shed light on the critical issue of domestic and economic abuse. This event is part of our Professionals Series and is specifically tailored for finance professionals, financial advisers, and Family Finance lawyers. The webinar aims to equip attendees with the knowledge and tools needed to identify signs of abuse and to provide informed support.

Financial abuse, a form of domestic abuse, affects one in five people in the UK during their lifetime. It can involve tactics such as restricting access to finances or coercing individuals into debt. The impact on survivors can be devastating, leaving them isolated and struggling to achieve financial independence.

Abusers will commonly use financial systems, including the tax system, to exert control over a victim, leaving them unable to rebuild their lives.  Professionals are uniquely placed to spot the signs and signpost victims to specialist support.

Recognising these challenges, the webinar will feature insights from expert Sofia Thomas, CTA AAT from Juno Tax, who will share her extensive experience working on Family Finance cases, offering practical advice on how professionals can identify and respond to cases of financial abuse. Holly Broadley from Oasis Domestic Abuse Service will provide an overview of how abuse manifests in relationships, presenting case study examples and strategies for when abuse is suspected.

This online event will also provide attendees with a comprehensive toolkit of resources, including further reading materials and links to more information. Participants will leave the session better equipped to assist clients facing abuse and to direct them to specialist support services like Oasis.

The webinar is free to attend and will be recorded.
