We are delighted to share that we have received a social investment loan of £4.1 million from Social and Sustainable Capital (SASC) for us to enhance our housing provision.

The loan from SASC’s Social and Sustainable Housing fund (SASH) will enable us to purchase 22 properties: 12 in Thanet and 10 in Medway, providing more bed spaces for women, men and their families escaping domestic abuse, in addition to the 20 properties we currently manage.

The investment marks an important milestone for Oasis. It makes it possible for us to increase our support for those needing safe accommodation, including those with multiple needs and physical disabilities, as well as our future sustainability.

This is the first time we have taken on social investment and the loan enables us to have more control over our properties, including where they are located and how they are refurbished, and grow our portfolio in a balanced way combining leased and owned properties.

The confidence and trust SASC has in us as a charity, following a rigorous process for securing the investment, affirms our position as a leading domestic abuse service locally and nationally. The expansion of our accommodation services means we can respond successfully to the Domestic Abuse Act statutory duty for greater safe accommodation for survivors in Kent and Medway.

Oasis makes an everyday difference to the lives of those affected by domestic abuse and we couldn’t do what we do without the support of investments like this, but also our community of supporters.
