Pride season is in full swing, and Oasis was honoured to march in the Margate Pride parade last weekend. The atmosphere was electric as hundreds of people came together to transform the town into a vibrant celebration of community, joy, allyship and protest.
We were proud to be part of this incredible day, standing alongside so many who believe in a world where everyone is free to be themselves and live without fear.
At Oasis, we believe every person should feel safe at home and in their community.
We are committed to ensuring that all people affected by domestic abuse can access the support they need, regardless of age, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity or religion.
Underreporting of domestic abuse in the LGBTQ+ community remains a significant issue, often fuelled by stigma and fear of discrimination. Many victims are reluctant to seek help due to concerns about being outed, not being believed or facing further prejudice. This silence perpetuates the cycle of abuse, leaving many without the support they desperately need.
That’s why raising awareness of domestic abuse is crucial to dismantling this stigma and bringing the issue out of the shadows. By being visible at Margate Pride, we wanted to show that we are here to support everyone and that no one should suffer in silence.
We left the day feeling inspired, uplifted and more determined than ever to continue our life-changing work across Kent and Medway.
Thank you, Margate, for showing that love, acceptance and inclusivity can truly make a difference.
Together, we can build a future where everyone feels safe.
If you know someone that needs our help, we are here.
